Farms and Webseries

posted by futurewolfie on Wednesday, May 2nd, 2012 @ 4:25pm | No Comments

It’s been a while since I updated, hasn’t it?  Just to let you know what I’m working on, a webseries I created, which has long been stuck in post-production due to budget and equipment limitations, is finally back on track.  We’re re-recording all the dialogue for a strong, clear sound, just like the real movies.  Only this is taking place in my game room.  So, that’ll keep me busy for a while, but I’m glad it’s up and running again.  It’s still a ways off from being completed, but you can check out the facebook page for the show here, which includes stills and some trailers: https://www.facebook.com/pages/Dont-Mess-With-Blake/104949059724

In other news, I recently completed some design work for a little card game called Farmageddon.  In this “aggressive” farming game, players are tasked to plant, fertilize, and harvest various crops for money – but they’ll have to deal with all sorts of zany events flying this way and that, from dust tornadoes, gophers, and deadly farm equipment to foreclosure, pesticides, and even foul manure.  No crop is safe in this fast paced, hilarious game!  It’s short and easy to learn, and the art is just excellent.  I got the chance to work on the designs for the card layout, as well as a few desktop backgrounds.  The backgrounds are pasted below, as well as added to my sample pages.  Click the images for a larger version.

Have Your Cake

It’s funny what kinds of surprising things can pop up in the world of design.  You ever see those fancy cakes with designs and pictures on them that look super cool?  As it turns out, someone has to design those things.  Sure some bakers have digital ink printers or something, but sometimes they’re done by hand.

I recently had the opportunity to take the image of a popular LEGO villain and convert it to a design for the top of a cake.  You can check out the cake maker’s site here: http://thejoysofcaking.blogspot.com/

And here’s an image of the cake:

Futurewolf Logo

A good logo is the foundation for building a brand image.  You need something visually striking that stands out, and is instantly recognizable. A professionally designed logo can catch potential a potential customer’s attention – while a bad logo can actually cause them to skip over you.

A logo design is a great basis to build an entire web design, and is one of the services I offer.

However, I am going to give away 3 FREE custom logo designs.  That’s right, if you have a business, blog, product, or anything else that you’d like a logo for, you can sign up for a chance to get it  TOTALLY FREE.

All you have to do to sign up is enter your name and email address on the contact page.  Then enter your company/blog/product name, a website (if available), and you’re entered!  You have til February 7th, 11:59pm to enter, and I will randomly choose 3 entries to get a free logo design on February 8.  Head on over to the contact page to enter now! The Fine Print:  Please, only 1 entry per company/blog/product.  By submitting your name and email address, you are granting Futurewolf permission to contact you directly.  You are NOT subscribing to a regular newsletter, and your information will NOT be transferred or sold in any way.  No purchase is necessary to enter the contest, and purchasing other services will not increase your chance of winning.  Winners will be contacted on February 8, 2012.  If a winner does not respond within 3 days, a new winner will be chosen to take their place.  After the contest, I will work with each winner to develop the logo of their choice.  There will be no limitations on the usage of the logo, though I will request that a “designed by futurewolf” tag be used and linked back to this site when possible.

Any attempt to falsify information will result in disqualification.   Futurewolf reserves the right to cancel the contest if any cheating is suspected.  Seriously guys, play nice.

A little board game design

posted by futurewolfie on Tuesday, January 31st, 2012 @ 9:37am | No Comments

I recently completed a design for a board game.  Unfortunately it’s not an official product, but a fan made spinoff of the popular Ticket to Ride game.

Ticket to Ride: Centuries board game

While the standard Ticket to Ride map features one major country (or continent, depending on the map), as you can see this version features 3 copies of the UK.  It represents 3  “Centuries” – 1895, 1995, and 2095 – with elements of Time Travel added into the game.

It can be tricky to design a board game.  You have a lot of information to represent clearly in a limited amount of space; and it has to be functional and leave room for players to place trains.  In addition, you have the sets of cards which carry their own details; in this case, destination cities and times and a point value.

Launch Day

Hi there, and welcome to Futurewolf.com.

My name is Jonathan Wolf, and I am a designer, a video editor, and a guy with a passion for creativity.  I’m here to help serve your media needs.  There are a lot of things I can do – feel free to check around the site, look at some of my past work, and see what services I provide.

Normally this section of the site will be used to post news or highlight a recently completed project.  But, since this is my very first post, I’d just like to point out some of the things I can do for you.

You’ll notice two major links at the top of the page – Design, and Video Production.  These are the two biggest services I provide.  In design, I do a lot of things – from designing and even developing websites, to creating banner ads, email ads (e-blasts), and e-newsletters.  I can also design print-based items such as posters or ads, though my focus is usually web.

As for Video Production, I most often serve as an editor or other post-production services, but I have experience in almost every area of video production, and I can take your project from start to finish, or anywhere in between, depending on what you need.

In the “Other Services” tab, you’ll find a list of other, smaller services I provide.  If you need some old slides converted into digital images, I can do that.  Capturing old family videos from VHS or miniDV tapes?  No problem.

I also do photo retouching or repair, whether you need something airbrushed or the restoration of an old, damage photo.

If you need some writing – perhaps a short script for your video, or a blog post, I can help you there.

Finally, I provide Social Media services, such as setting up a Facebook or Twitter account, or even analyzing your social media usage.

If you have something unique or unusual that’s media or internet related, but isn’t listed here… feel free to submit that as well.  I’m open to trying creative or unique ideas.
