I was approached to pitch, film, and edit this video based on a song chosen by the musician. Previously the artist’s youtube channel featured lyric videos or stock imagery over his music, but this was the first fully live-action production.
Once I heard the song, I pitched the concept, planned out the shoot, and spent a day filming on location. We moved a lot of furniture that day!
The story aimed to fit the theme of the song, about looking back longingly on a lost relationship. As memories fade and experiences are lost, so in this short film the symbols of memory and love and good times literally fade away.
Editing this project was quite a challenge, with cutting and timing and layering in different shots to create the ghosting effect, but it was a lot of fun to go wild with effects and break the image into pieces in so many different ways.
